FG OKONOMIYAKI BAR | Japanese pancake bar in Rotterdam

Soon FG Okonomiyaki Bar will be opened in the Japanese style Denoism store, at the Katshoek 19 in Rotterdam (Hofbogen). They are going to serve Okonomiyaki, which means free translated ‘baked or grilled as you like it’. Unlike the Dutch pancake, the okonomiyaki isn’t based on milk but on seaweed stock. You can fill the pancake with a choice of toppings such as cod, pork belly, tuna, homemade ketchup and bonito flakes. For 5 euros each, you can take away a mini-ekonomiyaki’s.

For example, the Dutch use vinegar mostly for kitchen purposes while in Japan it’s common to drink vinegar cocktails. The Vinegar Bar wants to show us the different kinds of vinegar and how to use them.

Similar to those offering snacks and drinks at railway stations and office buildings, but just a little more luxurious and pricey. The idea came from Tony Berthelot, who wanted to sell his oysters outside business hours as well.

One of the unique characteristics of ice cream is the fact that it combines very well with several products. In May we already published a bucket list with ice cream parlours but in the meanwhile we already posted 10 more stories about ice cream. A new list thus with amongst others one of the first ice cream parlours in the Netherlands that sells rolled ice cream, a parlour where DIY soft serve ice cream is being served and a cotton candy burrito with ice cream but also ice cream with alcohol like gin tonic or with beer. We are curious which Dutch ice cream parlour starts selling the black ice cream. It’s a total Instagram hype at the moment!

Fastaway is a new app where you can order and pick up food and drinks at train stations. The app targets busy train travelers, and is developed to avoid long queues. Furthermore the app allows people to pick up their orders at participating stores directly. By this way they will never miss a train connection anymore. The app is not live yet and is planning to launch in September.
