Still busy figuring out where you want to go on holiday and would you like to sleep at a special place? That’s possible, the last couple of years we spotted many examples of special themed hotel rooms. We created a list of examples of beautiful and special hotel rooms. Some examples from the Netherlands, like sleeping in a Van Gogh painting, at the Pier of Scheveningen, in a suite with blow ups of etchings by Rembrandt, in a crane or an airplane. Cake bars | Cake that looks like a frozen popsicle

No ice popsicles but cake bars or cake-on-a-stick, a new dessert at the Giovane Café at the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver. The executive pastry chef Jeffry Kahle and his team created a collection of delicious flavours for their new line of Cake Bars. Choose from Raspberry Krunch, Coconut Pineapple, Chocolate 99 or Banana MC.

Last week Grant Achatz announced the opening of a second location of his world famous Aviary cocktail bar in New York. The first location of the Aviary cocktail bar is in Chicago, near Grant Achatz famous restaurant Alinea (*** Michelin). There were rumours but now it has been confirmed, the Aviary cocktail bar will open this summer at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in the Time Warner building at Columbus Circle. Another reason for foodies to go to New York.

Tunes Bar | Around the world in 11 cocktails

This week, the first edition of the Amsterdam Cocktail Week started and a ‘must see’ is the Tunes Bar at the Conservatorium Hotel. Last week they launched Tunes Around The World, a tantalizing trip around the world in eleven exciting cocktail & foodpairings. The plans from Bar Manager Tim Hoevenagel and Chef Schilo van Coevorden are ambitious: Tunes should be a destination bar for all cocktails.
