Sustainable built hotel in six days

In the Chinese city of Changsha a sustainable summer hotel was built in just six days. The 15-storey hotel that was put together from prefabricated building blocks. During construction, 6x less material was used and only 1% waste was produced. The building is very sustainable using 5x less energy than usual, it is powered by solar energy, thermal isolation in the walls and the roof, triple windows and LED lighting. Additional advantage for the guests is that the air in the hotel is 20 times cleaner than outside!

The Charles Hotel in Cambridge offers guests free charging stations for electric cars. The hotel also works with a so-called Nanomax system. This system measures the weight and volume of arriveng cars. The smaller and more environmentally friendly the car is, the less parking fee you pay. The parkingspots for environmentally friendly cars are marked with colorful graphics and feature energy-efficient lighting.
Smartphone opens hotelroom

The next four months The Clarion Hotel Stockholm will test whether it is possible to use a smartphone asa roomkey and check-in device. Guests receive a temporary phone equipped with a so-called NFC chip. This chip allows the exchange of data between different devices. The smartphone as a key would also be safer than a traditional key. In case of theft or loss it can be blocked. Previously spotted in March: smartphone opens doors by Open Ways.

Customers of Blue State Coffee shops in Providence in the U.S. can decide for their own to which charity the coffee chain donates part of its revenue. With every coffee purchased, the customer receives a coin, this coin can then be placed in different containers. Each box represents a good cause. Since its opening in 2007 Blue State Coffee has donated more than $ 175,000 to over 50 charities.

The Swiss Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts opens its first five star hotel in Ramallah on the Westbank. With the construction of this hotel, Mövenpick indicates that the former Palestinian conflict area is ready for tourism and business. The hotel is realized for the estimated amount of $ 40,000,000 with a total of 171 rooms, a swimming pool, fitness center, seven conference rooms and a luxurious restaurant and bar.

Waterpebble for a quick shower

With the Waterpebble you use less water when taking a shower. By placing the pebble near the drain, it measures the waterconsumption. A green, yellow and red light show when you should stop showering. Each time the pebble is used , the time span between green and red light will be shorter resulting in shorter showers thus less water is consumed.

This Boy Bar consists of three parts, the lower part where the bottles are cooled, the middle part which has room for four glasses and the upper compartment whoch has room for accessories. On the outside the Bar Boy finished with a black lacquer and inside is finished with leather.
