Hurts Donut Company | Scary clown delivers… donuts
28-9-2017
Inspired by Pennywise, the scary clown from Steven King’s IT movie, used by multiple locations of Hurts Donuts, to do scary clown deliveries as part of their services. Your donuts brought to you by a delivery guy dressed up as clown and with creepy smiles. He even has the popular red balloons with him! The movie was released on the 7th of September in the Netherlands, making Pennywise a popular topic in conversations. But to use Pennywise the way Hurts Donuts did? Scary but an effective marketing stunt….
Starbucks Roastery | Cold-pressed Americano exploration flight
21-9-2017
Starbucks unveiled Cold-Pressed Espresso this September, a new patent-pending cold extraction process that will serve as the foundation for a new menu of sparkling beverages that will debut at the company’s premium, Starbucks Reserve® Roastery in Seattle. They even serve a cold-pressed Americano exploration flight, a great idea to get people to taste the cold-brew coffees. We spotted the first cold brew coffee in 2014 and since it’s growing extensionally but is still rather unknown to most of us. Great way to get familiar via a cold-pressed Americano exploration flight.
Canadian Poutine | At Tante Nel during the second ‘Speakfrietje’
20-9-2017
On Friday September 29th, haute friture snack bar Tante Nel introduces the original Canadian Poutine in the Netherlands. During the second edition of the popular ‘SpeakFrietje’ get-together they will present this Canadian dish. We’ve been to Toronto a while back, saw some examples of the dish but it reminded us to much of the Dutch ‘Kapsalon’! We didn’t even include it in our ‘Fries with….’ article. But big chance that hasn’t been the original Poutine with the right cheese like Tante Nel is going to serve!

The marshmallows from the past combined with the desires and flavours of today. What about champagne or bourbon marshmallows, or did you ever eat an ‘monut’. XOmarshmallow is now open after a succesfull Kickstarter crowdfunding.
Edible cutlery | Sustainable solution for plastic cutlery
5-9-2017
On the Facebook page of Futurism Food we spotted a video of an ‘edible spoon’ that is sold in India. You can buy it in a sweet, savoury and neutral taste. We wrote about similar products in 2010 and 2013, but it seems that the edible spoon is going mainstream now. The producer Bakeys is busy with a line of edible cutlery; chopsticks and forks are already created.
Why won’t we start using this edible cutlery outside India as well? As replacement of all the plastic cutlery in the fast food industry? The only problem is that they haven’t created a knife model yet but hey, plastic knives are a drama as well…

The Biotherapy Development Research Centre in Kanazawa (Japan) has developed ice cream that does not melt. The ice was accidentally discovered and named after the city where the discovery was made: Kanazawa ice cream. The non-melting ice cream is now sold in some parts of Japan and can stay in the sun for a while and still maintain the cold taste and its shape.

Whether it involves a large batch of craft beers or building materials; as an entrepreneur you don’t want to have a large number of unused products in your stockroom. It’s too expensive.
