ESB Electric Ireland came up with the Tweet Café during the Dublin Web Summit. Instead of a regular café format, visitors could choose for a variety of mini-boxes with different food and drink combinations. To order, users had to tweet #tweetcafe followed by the number of the box containing the snacks they wanted. When the order was ready, the users Twitter profile appeared on a large screen and the box containing the treats was opened.

McDonald’s build a super fries box with yellow lights, located in Chicago. You can see these fries from a 5 kilometre distance! So the hungry guests will know exactly where to go! This billboard is part of the campaign ‘Best Fries on the planet’.
Cooking in Parisian restaurants during closing hours

The team of Restolib’ organizes cooking classes, cooking workshops, wine and beer tastings, cocktail workshops and children’s parties. These workshops take place in different Parisian restaurants during closing hours. A nice concept; food lovers get the chance to cook in a professional restaurant kitchen and restaurant owners will have the change to create a higher turnover by renting their restaurant.
New trendy concepts at Schiphol

Dutch desinger Tjep developed three new shops in the newly refurbished Departure Lounge of Schiphol airport in Amsterdam: House of Tulips, Say Cheese and Bread!. These three concepts, a flower shop, a cheese take-away shop and a bread restaurant, sell these typical Dutch products to promote the Ducth culture. Early September the official opening of these concepts took place. Watch the project here.
The Pizza Hero

Domino’s Pizza created an app for the iPad, the Pizza Hero, to create your own pizza and to order it afterwards. User can knead the dough, spread the pizza sauce and add all preferred ingredients. The application is divided into 11 stages in which the game element is added of making it a race against the clock, prior to the order-phase of the pizza. By means of this application the ‘handmade’ aspect of Domino’s Pizza is stimulated.
Radical makeover for French McDonald’s

McDonald’s announced a radical makeover for several restaurants in France. The foundation of the new interior design is the ‘root’, a floor to ceiling high space divider that creates distinct dining spaces. Integrated within the root are McDonald’s brand colors and digital kiosks which provide customers with the convenience of table side ordering. The restaurants will provide seating for larger groups, which is in contrast to current the restaurants.
Geese croquettes

Beach pavilion Beach Inn in IJmuiden now serves croquettes of geese from Schiphol. Because of the safety around the airport, geese are killed. Before, nothing was done with these dead geese so far. Rob Hagenouw, an artist from Amsterdam, came with the idea to use these geese in a variant of the traditional croquet. The American crayfish and the muskrat are the next animals in Hagenouws the crosshairs.
Cupcakes Benedict

The Cupcakes Project renews traditional recipes and recently launched the Cupcakes Benedict. The Benedict has a topping of bacon and poached egg. The cakes are subsequently doused in a velvety Hollandaise sauce. It is without a doubt not the most common way to start you day, but it’s worth the effort. See the link for a recipe.

First shipping container market in the US

Dekalb Market is the first shipping container market in the US. The stores, housed in re-purposed containers, feature vintage fashion, environmentally friendly goods, and local, handmade items, while others sell food, from soul food to cupcakes to pickles. Before it was a market, it was an empty lot after it was the location of the Albee Square Mall. Dekalb Market is the first phase of CityPoint project, to turn downton Brooklyn into a more liveable, 24/7 community.
