This week a ‘trends we spotted’ in summer vibes! With links to a number of Instagram posts including one with a frozen Aperol Spritz recipe that could sell very well at your outdoor dining space on warm days. And about the ‘High cocktails time’ on Saturday afternoon at FAK Utrecht.
The ‘Taste the world cuisine’ at Shell cafes in the Netherlands now sells a sweet BBQ bacon bun and a pulled BBQ chicken wrap from BBQ chef Ralph de Kok. If you buy one of them, you can also win one Komado barbecue from Big Green Egg and a cookbook from Ralph. Read how in the article!
Another special swimming pool for dogs, this time ‘Mutts & Martinis’ in Florida. Including a bar where the dog owners can enjoy a drink and even order food. Last week we wrote about a dog swimming pool in France, when will one open in the Netherlands?
A number of pop-up beach clubs from major brands, we previously wrote about Gucci in the South of France and now a pop-up from Louis Vuitton in the beach bar of the Mandarin Oriental in Bodrum. And in Malaysia there is a Dioriviera! This pop-up is at the Ember Beach Club of the One&Only Desaru Coast.
Last year we already wrote an article about Anya Hindmarch‘s special ice cream project, you can taste her special ice cream flavors again until August 27 at Anya Village in London. And a lesson on how to create butlers: the Hôtel Belles Rives in Juan-les-Pins on the French Riviera introduces a ‘Water Ski Butler’.
In Milan, the ‘Ichi Station sushi bar’ chain has opened a new location on Via Solferino, with a special design in peachy colors. However, we think the packaging of their sushi take-out is very cool! Maybe an inspiration for other sushi chains!

As its courts are smaller it might be a great sport for the sportive grey brigade who used to play tennis.
For those travelling to Paris this September, Big Mamma returns with its 100% street food festival at La Felicità! On September 16 and 17. And also in France: at Mérignac (near Bordeaux) the first dog pool, Mouille tes Pattes, opened. We love the idea!

The historic event, held on Saturday, July 1, was the first-ever consumer sale of cultivated meat in the U.S., representing a historic milestone for the food system.

And Aperol Spritz is creating an Italian ‘LA Spritz Piazza’ in the north of Paris on July 7 and 8. We have great squares for a similar piazza here in the Netherlands as well!

Fico, a Singapore-based restaurant, is making food history by embarking on a culinary revolution by creating the world’s first Chocolate Solein® Gelato, a dessert made with ingredients derived out of thin air. Solein is the world’s most sustainable protein produced by Finnish food tech company Solar Foods.

And a few interesting Instagram posts: quite literally a bucket list item in Berlin, where you can buy ramen from Christopher of Berlin food technique and pick it up from a bucket. We also came across the fluffy pancakes by Rookies pancakes in Paris, where there are queues waiting every day. This is also the case at the Truffle Bakery in Tokyo! They sell buns baked with truffle butter, coated with truffle oil and truffle salt. And Restaurant Sophia Loren opens 4th restaurant at the airport of Rome.
Restaurant Aroma Italian Fine Dining in Vaassen has been named ‘Italian Restaurant of the Year’ in the Netherlands by the glossy Italy Magazine. They will also become members of JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs and the chef will publish a cookbook this fall. And the winner of the Chefs & Shakers competition by Don Papa Rum is: Team Havn and cocktail bar Feijoa. They created a small beer-like cocktail with luxury streetfood.

City ID has announced their expansion to a historic place in Lisbon, the Baronesa building. After renovation, the apartment hotel will consist of 88 units. And Accor has partnered with start-up Alltheway to offer a solution that simplifies travel by transporting luggage between city centres and airports. Launch is in Paris.

An intimate group of leading chefs, culinary influencers and media recently gathered at Pizzeria Mozza in Los Angeles to taste the world’s first animal-free mozzarella. Hosted by renowned chef Nancy Silverton, the debut event showcased the revolutionary first product from New Culture, a Bay Area food company dedicated to creating sustainable, animal-free dairy. This mozzarella is lactose-free, cholesterol-free and free from any trace hormones or antibiotics.

Where previously vegan dishes were marked on the menu, a marking is now placed behind dishes with animal products. “With a daring new menu, we are breaking into the future with a bang,” says director Hugo Kruijssen about the company’s new direction.
