Enso Ango by Ango Hotels | Kyoto’s first dispersed hotel

Opened in the fall of 2018, ENSO ANGO’s five zen-inspired properties function as one to immerse the traveler in the living culture of Kyoto. Each property contains communal spaces and facilities, so that guests aren’t staying in one hotel building. Guests can choose to visit spaces in five buildings nestled into the charming side streets of central Kyoto. With six more buildings planned to join the current five, the people behind the progressive hotel concept ‘Enso Ango’ are committed to a continuing process of evolution and to further enriching the experience of their guests.
November 2019 we received a notice that as of November 30, 2019, Ango Hotels will end the operation of ENSO ANGO and Global Hotel Management will take over its operation from December 1, 2019 by mutual agreement. The name of the hotel is a subject to change in the future as the brand ENSO ANGO is created by Ango Hotels Inc.

Doloris’ Meta Maze in Tilburg | Surrealistic art maze and rooftop bar

It took them almost ten months of construction, but on the 17th of May Doloris will open their doors to the surrealistic ‘Meta Maze’ and rooftop bar. Doloris’ Meta Maze (as the maze is officially called) is the new creative, touristic hotspot of Tilburg and the Netherlands. A surrealistic maze of 400 m2, full of art and a touch of Alice in Wonderland, Narnia or Stranger Things. A walk- or climb-through art experience with over 40 rooms of surreal art, designed and built by the creators of Karmanoia. In the realm of Doloris you immerse yourself in a world beyond ours. As you follow oblique pathways, slip through hidden loopholes, walk through walls and encounter mysterious objects, time becomes fluid. Meta Maze is the only “immersive art experience” of this format in Europe and unique in the world in terms of form.

We too sometimes use videos as a source of inspiration to write about. With this week again a selection of 3 videos which our colleague Micha Luksenburg thinks are worth watching.

3DEN | Pay-as-you-use urban spaces

3DEN (pronounced “Eden”) is the second generation of the ‘third place’ (a space that’s neither home nor work). A non-membership, pay-as-you-use destination, 3DEN offers convenient and luxury amenities including sound-proof phone booths, nap pods, a spacious lounge, refreshments, private showers and more. With a nature-inspired design that fosters ease and focus, it’s the third place between home and work where you can get things done and refresh for wherever you’re headed next. The 3DEN app allows guests to reserve amenities in advance, as well as purchase any of the products they discover while in the space. 3DEN’s first location opened inside Hudson Yards on March 15, 2019, with a network of additional locations launching throughout New York City this year.
The place can be used to get some work done or for example if you have time to fill between meetings, or if you just arrived in town after a long flight and need somewhere to freshen up before going to your office or a meeting.

River Walk Market opens at Battersea Power Station

Saturday 27th April will mark the launch of River Walk Market, a new weekly independent market at the foot of the iconic Battersea Power Station. Located at Circus West Village and its open from 11.00 AM till 17.00 PM. From the founders of Real Food Festivals who have been dedicated to supporting small, sustainable and ethically minded producers and staging some of the biggest food events in London and beyond, River Walk Market will be host to independent food and drink producers, artists, designers, street food and live musicians every Saturday.
We love the idea of a weekly food festival!
First ‘jeu de boules’-food hall ‘Mooie Boules’ opens in Rotterdam | The Dutch love to play the game

In June, the very first covered ‘jeu de boules’ bar in Rotterdam North opens its doors: ‘Mooie Boules’ (Beautiful Boules). The old, characteristic metal factory in the upcoming ZOHO quarter in Rotterdam will be transformed into a French village square. Local restaurants (the names of which are not yet disclosed), will serve their signature dishes and at the bar a wide range of wine, specialty and local beers will be available. All this in combination with a game of ‘jeu de boules’. The location in Rotterdam opens on Vijverhofstraat 45 in Rotterdam-North in June. It seems like the Dutch love to play the famous French game!
