The Fusion hotel, located in the heart of Prague City center is a hip and trendy new hotel, bringing together travelers on different budgets, all seeking value and a brand/lifestyle buy-in. Fusion hotel is ‘Cheap-Chic’ or ‘Budget-Boutique’ with practical design mantras. Having your battery die: a constant problem for the person on the move in the city. It always feels a little silly to drag around cables to charge your electronics at the office, doesn’t it? The folks at Brooklyn-based design agency PENSA! have created a new concept that allows you to get your charge on outdoors. Aptly named ‘Street Charge’, the idea is to attach a thin structure to existing street infrastructure such as street signs, powered by photovoltaic cells and batteries, allowing passersby to plug in their digital toys with a USB cable.
You can sleep under the stars in the Bubble Hotel Attrap Rêves, located near to Marseille in France, without disturbing nature. The eco-friendly space designed bij Pierre Stephane, is a replacement for campers. The transparent bubbles are very comfortable. If you care for a little more privacy, you can also choose for the bubbles which are partly transparent.
Dig two holes in the sand and put a table cloth across the middle! If you do this for your restaurant at the beach and pictures are taken – take care that your name comes up!
In Shanghai the Pudong Kangqiao branded hotel is built. The hotel features a swimming pool, located at the 24th floor of the hotel. It is a 30 meters long swimming pool and is hanging over the edge of the building. Unique about this swimming pool is that there is a glass floor. You are swimming 24 floors above the ground with nothing but a floor of glass underneath!
At the Design fair in Milan, Heineken placed the crowd-sourced night club concept. This yearlong design exploration project, is created through the progressive minds of 19 emerging designers from across the globe, resulted in a prototype of a futuristic night club. Interesting to read about the six key areas (connecting, getting a drink, discovering, dancing, cooling down and ending the night).
OOIIO Architecture designed an open space on the lower level of a new hotel in Reykjavik that can be used as a theater, including restaurants, shops and the hotel lobby facing it. From there, people can take an escalator up to the public sculptural hotel roof, where they can enjoy a panoramic view. Take a look at the website of Designboom to discover the design.
‘Blueseed’ is co-founded by Max Marti, Dario Mutabdzija and lead by Peter Thiel. The floating city will be located in international waters of the Silicon Valley and is especially designed for starting entrepreneurs. The Blueseed project offers living space, work space and entertaiment facilities to foreign start-ups. The goal is that the Blue Seed opens in the 3rd quarter of 2013. No more regular showers on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil this summer. The Coca-Cola company came with the ‘Sprite Shower’, luckily the shower is of pure water and not Sprite.
