RATIO launched at China’s critically acclaimed and trendsetting mall K11 Shanghai in pop-up form this June, followed soon after by residence in Raffles City, People’s Square. Dozens more stores are in the pipeline at hotels and co-working spaces in Asia.
International debut 010/020 dinners | Chefs and sommeliers from Amsterdam and Rotterdam to New York

The leading American culinary institute, the James Beard Foundation, invited Amsterdams’ and Rotterdams’ gastronomic top talents to serve a showcase of Dutch metropolitan gastronomy in New York. After five successful editions in the Netherlands, the special concept of 010/020 dinners, in which Amsterdam and Rotterdam restaurants cook together, takes the step abroad. Cooking will take place at the James Beard House on October 24 2018 , but on September 9 you are able to try some of the dishes at Kaagman and Kortekaas at their fundraiser dinner.

Fujita Kanko Opens Halal Japanese restaurant Origami Asakusa in Tokyo

Leading Japanese hospitality company Fujita Kanko Inc. announced that it will open Halal Japanese restaurant Origami on July 25th in Asakusa, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tokyo. The company intends to attract the increasing Muslim visitors in Japan. According to the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), the number of Muslim visitors to Japan has been rising significantly in recent years. The growth is especially apparent with Malaysian visitors as well as Indonesian visitors, which grew 30% from 2016 to 2017. In a survey conducted before arriving in Japan, a majority of Muslim visitors expressed a keen interest in trying Japanese foods in Japan. Yet Japanese restaurants that cater to halal populations are still extremely limited.

The third Sunday of July was designated in the USA as National Ice Cream Day, in fact even July is the Ice Cream Month since 1984. It seems that the those who celebrate this National Day have to thank President Ronald Reagan for it! He wanted to commemorate a treat enjoyed by over 90 percent of the nation’s population and produced by 10% of the nation’s milk supply. When Reagan’s proclamation was officially signed into law, he also called on the U.S. people to pay tribute to ice-cream with “appropriate ceremonies and activities.”
