International debut 010/020 dinners | Chefs and sommeliers from Amsterdam and Rotterdam to New York

The leading American culinary institute, the James Beard Foundation, invited Amsterdams’ and Rotterdams’ gastronomic top talents to serve a showcase of Dutch metropolitan gastronomy in New York. After five successful editions in the Netherlands, the special concept of 010/020 dinners, in which Amsterdam and Rotterdam restaurants cook together, takes the step abroad. Cooking will take place at the James Beard House on October 24 2018 , but on September 9 you are able to try some of the dishes at Kaagman and Kortekaas at their fundraiser dinner.
Mooie Boules Amsterdam | Has the ambition to get everybody in the Netherlands to play jeu de boules

Mooie Boules (Dutch for ‘Beautiful Boules’) in Amsterdam East is the very first food hall in the Netherlands with a unique mix of the game jeu de boule, drinks, food and dancing. At the end of June Mooie Boules opened its doors, this indoor hall is a hotspot for a group outing with friends, family or colleagues. Besides jeu de boule you are able to enjoy live music, a drink and a bite of one of the six food concepts of Editions kitchens from Deliveroo, which offers six restaurant concepts from two award-winning chefs: Ron Blaauw (a.o. Gastrobar) and Michiel van der Eerde from BAUT. The dishes of the chefs are delivered exclusively to customers of Deliveroo and are available to visitors of the pétanque hall in Amsterdam East. Mooie Boules is open daily from 4 pm and in the weekend from 11 am. Every Friday and Saturday they are open until 3 o’clock and then there will also be a DJ.

This week, amongst others about self-guided tours at the Louvre, narrated by Beyoncé and Jay-Z and ‘Pool is Cool’ in Brussels, they try to re-introduce open air swimming here. With the current heatwave in Northern Europe we sympathize with them! And a set menu yakitori counter from Tokyo (Torishiki, * Michelin star) will be opening in New York in 2019. ¡Arriba! | Restaurant Ceviche throws a fiesta for Peruvian Independence Day

On 28th July, Ceviche Old St, Martin Morales’ award-winnning Peruvian restaurant, music venue and art gallery in the heart of East London, is throwing open the doors and pouring out the pisco sours for the Peru Independence Day Fiesta. Martin will bring together the diverse flavours of coastal Peru, the mountainous Andes, and cosmopolitan capital Lima for a celebratory feast, with DJs including Martin himself manning the decks late into the evening.
Inspiration: throwing a party on a national celebration day or another local fest if you have a restaurant or club, might cause some excitement around your brand! A small list of fiesta’s from around the world.

Love Potion No. 921 | Ice Cream created for the National Ice Cream Day

Inspired by the agency’s mission to ‘Do Things People Love’, Periscope, one of the nation’s top five independent marketing agencies, is launching its very own branded ice cream. Love Potion No. 921, a blood orange and pomegranate ice cream with a hint of ginger, was designed by Periscope employees as part of the agency’s 2018 brand refresh. The ice cream was created in collaboration with Izzy’s® Ice Cream, a nationally award-winning ice cream shop that started selling the confection on Friday, July 13, the weekend of National Ice Cream Day (July 15).

During the well-known boat parade of the Amsterdam Pride on August 4, the Pulitzer hotel Amsterdam will accommodate an exclusive “Pulitzer Pride VIP Deck” on the Prinsengracht. In honor of the Canal Parade, a 30-meter long pontoon will be built on the Prinsengracht right in front of the Pulitzer Amsterdam, where guests will have a first-class view of the parade for an unforgettable experience.
First Happy Italy To Go & new branch of Happy Italy in KPN headquarters

Happy Italy takes two big steps, the fast growing catering formula has signed a contract with KPN last week. Inside the new KPN head office in Rotterdam, a large Happy Italy branch will be established this autumn. Moreover, Happy Italy also launches a new take-away formula, ‘Happy Italy To Go’. The first branch will open at the Lijnbaan in Rotterdam after the summer holidays. With these developments the restaurant chain lives up to its title ‘The Fast Italian’.
Fujita Kanko Opens Halal Japanese restaurant Origami Asakusa in Tokyo

Leading Japanese hospitality company Fujita Kanko Inc. announced that it will open Halal Japanese restaurant Origami on July 25th in Asakusa, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tokyo. The company intends to attract the increasing Muslim visitors in Japan. According to the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), the number of Muslim visitors to Japan has been rising significantly in recent years. The growth is especially apparent with Malaysian visitors as well as Indonesian visitors, which grew 30% from 2016 to 2017. In a survey conducted before arriving in Japan, a majority of Muslim visitors expressed a keen interest in trying Japanese foods in Japan. Yet Japanese restaurants that cater to halal populations are still extremely limited.
