By the Dutch | Medals at International competitions for these ‘Spirits with a Dutch heritage’
‘By the Dutch’ has recently received a number of important awards at various international competitions. They have won medals during the Gin Masters 2018, IWSC 2018 and Tastings.com 2018. The Batavia Arrack and Dry Gin even won gold. The ‘By the Dutch’ Old Genever was the only Dutch Jenever that won prizes at the Gin Masters 2018.
By the Dutch | Batavia Arrack
The Batavia Arrack, obtained 92 point – Exceptional from the renowned American Beverage Testing Institute ‘Tastings.com’. The jury comment: “A rich and refined Batavia Arrack for sipping or cocktails.” More recently (July 2018) the Batavia Arrack received a silver medal (Outstanding) from the International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC). Batavia Arrack is a Rum from Indonesia, which has been shipped to the Netherlands since the 17th century (VOC period).
By the Dutch | Dry Gin
This is also the first gold medal for the Dry Gin since its launch in May 2017. The gold medal was obtained at the American Beverage Testing Institute ‘Tastings.com’. With 94 points, the Gin was rated as “Exceptional” and the jury commented: “A superb gin with instant appeal and great versatility.” Owner of ‘By the Dutch‘, Jos Zonneveld is very pleased with this news. “With the arrival of the Batavia Arrack and Dry Gin we see strong growth in International appreciation. This helps us tremendously to put our educational program in strength.”
The Old Genever
The Old Genever has won prizes for the third year in a row at the GIN MASTERS in July 2018. This year the Old Genever was the only Dutch Jenever rated with a silver medal. In 2016, the Old Genever even received a gold medal in the same competition. The Old Genever has also recently won a silver medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition 2018 (July 2018).

‘By the Dutch’ was created in September 2015 with the mission to put drinks with a Dutch heritage in the spotlight internationally. Earlier, ‘By the Dutch’ has been the focus of attention with the launch of their Gin in May 2017. Genever is the ancestor of Gin. Spring 2016 ‘By the Dutch’ introduced the Batavia Arrack. A Rum from Indonesiä (Java) which has been brought to the Netherlands since the VOC. Their portfolio is supported by three own bitters (Classic, Orange and Ginger). Since the start of ‘By the Dutch’ in September 2015, the educational brand has won 18 medals and ratings. In addition, ‘By the Dutch’ exports to more than 22 countries. Owner Jos Zonneveld: “We are very proud of the amount of awards for our distillates. They are very important to tell our story in all countries where we operate. We will continue our efforts to put the drinks with Dutch heritage back in the spotlights.”
