CourjonWe already spotted the date of opening on Instagram last week and mentioned it in our ‘Trends we spotted week 5’, but it’s now official, on Monday 14th February 2022, one of the world’s best pastry chefs will open the doors to his first patisserie outside of France, Cédric Grolet at The Berkeley.
From Valentine’s Day at 8am, the chef’s world renowned creations will be available to takeaway, including Grolet’s famous trompe-l’œil, fruit and flower cakes. The patisserie – which is almost lab-like in its aestehetic with touches of gold and is designed by renowned interior designer Remi Tessier – has a central focal point: The Chef’s Counter which will host a globally exclusive dining experience inside the lab, set to wow Londoners and beyond.

The Berkeley 'Winter at The Garden'On Thursday 3rd December, as The Berkeley reopens its doors to all, the hotel will reveal a new festive addition: Winter at The Garden. Following the summer sell out success of The Garden and now reimagined for the winter months, this culinary terrace spot will consist of five cosy wooden cabins, each seating up to six diners. These cabins, glittering with flickering candles, will be decked with wreaths courtesy of McQueens, and surrounded by a forest of fir trees and fairy lights. Guests will be armed with blankets and heaters to keep warm. A menu of alpine specialties, built around a showstopping raclette grill, will delight eager guests after weeks of eating at home.
The UK is getting out of their lockdown tomorrow December 2 just after midnight, at that moment the country will go back to a three tier system. Only if you’re located in a tier 3 region, the restaurants and pubs aren’t allowed to open. London for example is located in a tier 2 region (most regions are tier 2), the rules here are: ‘Pubs and bars can only open if they serve substantial meals. Alcohol can be served with that meal. Pubs and restaurants must shut at 23:00 GMT, with last orders at 22:00 GMT.’ We wish that this was the case here in the Netherlands as well!
The Berkeley Breakfast in Bed delivery service by bikeFrom November 16, The Berkeley will be taking to the streets delivering joyful bundles of breakfast by bike. Two different breakfasts are available during lockdown and beyond, and will be whizzed to neighbourhood doors via The Berkeley’s bikes to bring a little comfort to the local SW1X area.

The Rooftop Winter Cinema at The Berkeley hotelOverlooking the rooftops of Belgravia and Knightsbridge, and with sweeping views of Hyde Park and Winter Wonderland, The Berkeley’s rooftop garden will once again transform into a twinkling festive forest cinema. Guests will snuggle into wooden huts laden with blankets to watch Christmas classics on the big screen whilst warming up with a menu of alpine and winter favourites and flowing Laurent-Perrier champagne for a touch of extra sparkle. Screenings of festive favourites like ‘Home Alone’ and ‘The Holiday’ at the Rooftop Winter Cinema will take place from 15th November ~ 31st December 2019. Reservations will open today, November 4.
Great idea for other hotels with rooftops in the holiday season! Even cinemas could work together with restaurants to surprise their guests with the combination of watching a great ‘holiday season’ movie while enjoying a great meal.
The Berkeley London designer afternoon tea, Prêt-à-Portea, is inspired by the themes and colours of the fashion world. The menu is transformed every six months to follow the changing seasons in fashion. Prêt-à-Portea is served at the Caramel Room daily from 1pm to 6pm.
