For the first time in its 150 year history, Claridge’s legendary afternoon tea will be served outside of its Mayfair home, and will take residency at sister hotel The Maybourne Beverly Hills – the first American property from Maybourne Hotel Group. Guests will enjoy the traditional British teatime ritual, but with playful twists in true Maybourne spirit, that will reflect the flavours of California and the vibrancy of the destination. Presented on the LA hotel’s sweeping outdoor garden terrace, guests will enjoy this alfresco service surrounded by a white jacketed team, a fragrant garden of wild flowers, accompanied by the sounds of a grand piano.

Although it doesn’t sound like a trend, we love the idea of being able to enjoy a real British Afternoon Tea in another place. Would you go to a Dutch hotel if they would for example serve the delicious Claridge’s scones and their British style sandwiches? Or any of the Afternoon Tea’s we wrote about? We think collaborations like this could work at many more destinations!

London, November 24th 2021 – Claridge’s, London’s legendary Mayfair hotel has unveiled Claridge’s Christmas Tree 2021 in the hotel lobby, created by Kim Jones, Artistic Director of the Dior men’s collections.

Every year we write about the Claridge’s Christmas Tree, because we simply love the idea! Creating buzz and free publicity together! We loved the decorations by McQueens Flowers, Christian Louboutin and Karl Lagerfeld for example. Last week the Pulitzer hotel announced that their Christmas Tree will be decorated by Claes Iversen, and this tree will be ready in the beginning of December. As said: this idea can be used at every level: have your lobby decorated for the Holiday Season by a local artist and create a buzz and free publicity with a great tree lighting party! cal artists in designing the annual Christmas tree.

Claridge’s Christmas Tree 2020 | This year’s theme: Art Deco

Claridge’s, London’s legendary Mayfair hotel has unveiled its much anticipated Claridge’s Christmas Tree 2020 in the hotel lobby. This year the landmark hotel has drawn on its rich and glamorous Art Deco design heritage evoking the Roaring 20’s, a time when people were looking for a symbol of hope and happiness post World War One. As London looks for a beacon of light amidst the trials and tribulations of this year, the message seems very fitting as we once again hope for better times to come.

The Claridge’s Christmas Tree has long symbolized the start of the festive season in the capital, drawing visitors and Londoners alike to admire its magnificent design. This is the 11th year that Claridge’s has invited a longstanding partner and friend to reinterpret the tree in their own distinctive style. We wrote about a couple of them because we love the inspiration they offer, on the level of decorating but also in choosing to cooperate with the designers. Check out the trees by regular guests and designers Christian Louboutin, Diane von Fürstenberg and even Karl Lagerfeld.

Claridge’s, London’s legendary Mayfair hotel has unveiled the Claridge’s Christmas Tree 2017 in the hotel lobby, designed by Karl Lagerfeld, widely regarded as one of the fashion world’s most influential creative forces. This year’s Claridge’s festive installation is inspired by Lagerfeld’s childhood memories of Christmas with a series of inverted spruce Christmas Trees placed around the hotel lobby. The centrepiece is a sixteen foot high inverted tree with silver gilded roots topped with a multi-facetted mirrored star which reflects rays of magical light across the art deco lobby. In this article some inspiration around the Christmas tree for other hoteliers, for example do you celebrate the fact that the lights in your tree are lightened? read more
