Culinary journey around the world at WOLF Food Market

The mix of local and international concepts, including iconic names such as Rambo smash burgers, ‘t Werftje, and Curry Club by Mission Masala, takes visitors on a culinary journey around the world – from Japan to Mexico. Much of the interior was made with upcycled materials from the Antwerp port, which not only gives WOLF an eye-catching design but also makes it ecologically responsible. In addition, WOLF is strongly committed to local anchoring, such as with the Antwerpse Brouw Compagnie (Antwerp Brew Company) for exclusive beers.

The iconic wolf in WOLF Brussels’ logo was given an Antwerp makeover, as a nod to the City of Antwerp’s maritime history: the Wolf wears a cap with an anchor on it and has an earring, like a seal.

WOLF Food Market Antwerp opened its doors to the public last Friday, December 20th 2024, and promises to be a vibrant foodie destination where gastronomy, hospitality and conviviality come together.

10 cuisines, from world cuisine to hype kitchen in Antwerp

The WOLF team spent a whole year testing all possible concepts before carefully choosing 10 restaurants, each the best in their genre. The selection includes Antwerp favourites, as local anchoring is important to WOLF, but also cool concepts from other regions and even abroad – concepts that foodies have long hoped would come to Antwerp.

Kafei – desserts & brunch – Ping, Mickael and Stephen grew up together in their parents’ restaurant. Meanwhile, they pay tribute to Asian culture with Kafei, Belgium’s first and only Asian coffee shop. Fluffy pancakes, one of their signature dishes, are cloud-like pancakes made with seasonal toppings such as matcha, ube and black sesame. The carefully developed recipe creates a perfectly light and airy texture that melts on the tongue. Kafei also offers a unique brunch experience with a strong nod to Asian cuisine.

Curry Club by Mission Masala – Indian – Desi Indian Soul Food! Mission Masala brings an exciting mix of Indian and South Asian flavors to Wolf. With a menu of roti rolls, spicy curries and colourful street food dishes, Mission Masala represents a tasty and bold dining experience. Pavan and Tim stay true to their motto: big, colourful and authentic, with an urban touch that makes the dining experience unforgettable.

Goro Goro Ramen – ramen noodles – Chef Nick Hofman has a life mission : the ultimate pleasure, through the perfect ramen! His restaurant, Zuru Zuru, takes you straight to the lively streets of Japan, and the very best ramen. Zuru Zuru is known for craftsmanship and traditional preparation, awarded by Gault & Millau and Fooding, among others. Nick’s new project, Goro Goro, serves artisan ramen with fresh, organic noodles in a savoury broth, brimming with deep umami flavours. The word ‘Goro Goro’ refers to the sound of thunder, which perfectly describes the dishes’ explosive flavour. Expect a selection of ramen with carefully marinated toppings, from tender meat to crunchy vegetables, that will leave your taste buds tingling.

‘t Werftje – shrimp croquettes – The oldest café on the Zeebrugge coast, founded in 1905! Now, one of the most iconic restaurants on the North Sea! ‘t Werfje has been recognized for the best shrimp croquette in Belgium and far beyond, several times. ‘t Werftje is finally bringing, via the Scheldt (😉), its famous shrimp croquettes, daily fresh fish and freshly caught seafood to Antwerp. ‘t Werftje offers a slice of authentic coastal ambiance in the middle of the city, with a menu that is sure to appeal to everyone. Remember, as they say in ‘t Werftje : “He who takes the sea as his lover, must endure the salt taste of its kiss”.

LIMA Nikkei – Japanese-Peruvian (Nikkei) – ¡Bienvenidos! Luis Garcia, Mayra Linares and Diego Salas realize their dream, born out of a passion for travelling and good food. At Lima Nikkei, they bring an exciting fusion: Peruvian cuisine with a Japanese touch. Peru has been among the best culinary destinations in the world for years, while Japanese gastronomic precision techniques are unmatched. This results in dishes such as sushi rolls with avocado and fresh fish, and poké bowls with colourful ingredients. Expect explosive flavours and creative combinations, taking street food to the next level. Gault&Millau restaurant!

Rambo – smash burgers – An absolute must for burger lovers and Belgium’s first smash burger concept! And as often happens, the first remains the best: Rambo is listed in the prestigious Fooding guide and Sabato’s 100 Food. At Rambo, the focus is on the essentials: the quality of Black Angus meat. Rambo takes you back to the streets of Los Angeles with their crispy, smashed burgers on a soft buttered and toasted potato bun (replacing some of the flour with potato) and topped with a melting slice of cheese, pickles, onion, ketchup and mustard. Smash refers to a specific technique where the meat is literally crushed on a red-hot plancha. The Maillard reaction causes the juices to caramelize, giving the meat a crispy exterior and enhancing its flavour.

Finjan – pita & kebab – For almost 30 years, Finjan has been bringing the authentic flavours of the Middle East to the heart of Antwerp with a cult pita shop. Known for their high quality and homemade dishes, Finjan has even earned a place in the prestigious Gault & Millau guide, as the first pita bar ever! Now Finjan brings that same dedication to WOLF, serving a selection of their signature dishes, from tasty meat options to delicious vegetarian meals. Whether you come for a quick lunch, a relaxed dinner or a meal with friends, at Finjan you will enjoy freshly prepared dishes and their famous homemade sauces.

Carnivore Corner – MEAT – by De Laet & Van Haver x Hemmat brings the craft of butchery back to its essence. Luc De Laet and Peggy Van Haver stand for age-old, artisanal traditions, resulting in quality and healthy taste experiences. Meat is processed ‘from nose to tail’. At Wolf, Carnivore Corner has established a unique collaboration with cooking talent Matthijs van Hemmat, previously present with a pop-up at The Jane. A tribute to meat in all its forms: perfectly cooked steaks, juicy ribs, and classic Flemish dishes like stew meat and vol-au-vent, complemented by refined side dishes like crispy fries and homemade pickles. And the Secreto 07 is not to be missed, of course!

Local Dealer – Mexican (Amsterdam) – Your no.1 taco dealer! At Local Dealer, it’s all about the authentic flavours of Mexico, with a creative twist. This means no fuss, just incredibly delicious food. From handmade tortillas to juicy tacos, fresh ceviche’s and your favourite Mexican snacks. Each dish is carefully prepared with fresh ingredients and a subtle blend of herbs and spices, with a touch of lime for extra freshness. Local Dealer offers a casual dining experience where taste and quality are key, bringing the heart of Mexico to life in Antwerp. Nothing more and definitely nothing less!

La Pizza è Bella – pizza & pasta – Stefano did not have to think long about the name of his restaurant, given that ‘Pizza’ and ‘Bella’ are among the most well-known Italian words in the world. La Pizza è Bella has been a fixture among the best pizzerias for years (recently voted 8th best pizzeria in Europe again, and 1st pizzeria in Belgium). The secret: a careful process of maturation and the best ingredients Italy has to offer. Whether a classic Margherita or a more daring topping, each pizza is an ode to craftsmanship and passion for the Neapolitan tradition. Buon appetito, raggazi!

Wolf Blond & Wolf White | The beer of the moment

In collaboration with Antwerpse Brouw Compagnie (Antwerp Brew Company) located a stone’s throw away on Het Eilandje, WOLF introduces the exclusive beers Wolf Blond and Wolf White. These craft brews guarantee quality, sustainability, and a local character. The close collaboration with Antwerpse Brouw Compagnie not only ensures unique flavours, but also an environmentally friendly approach and full control over production. And on top of that, Cristal delivers barrel beer.

The perfect pairing | Wines by Trésor Vets

For wine lovers, Trésor Vets, former sommelier of The Jane and now freelance sommelier and consultant, has used his expertise to put together a masterful selection of wines. In addition, he has selected a specific wine for each restaurant that perfectly matches the unique flavours of the dishes, so that every sip completes the culinary experience.

Innovative and sustainable design by Lionel Jadot

For the interior and design of WOLF Food Market, WOLF has once again collaborated with Lionel Jadot, a versatile Belgian designer, assembler, interior designer, and artist. Jadot is known for his creative daring and passion for re-use: he transforms used objects and materials, giving them a new life and combining them into unique designs. For the Felix Warehouse, Jadot not only created designs himself, but also curated a collective of talented studios and designers. This collective includes Marius Ritiu (textured bar), Benny Conings (textured kiosks), Arnaud Eubelen (lighting), Nicolas Zanoni (furniture), Pierre-Emmanuel Vandeputte (furniture), and Espace Aygo (DJ booth, wall decoration and curtains).
