Café Paloma | Enjoying Mexican dishes and Paloma cocktails in The Hague

Paloma is a trifecta of wordplay; the Paloma, is the national cocktail of Mexico, a play on words with the Anna Paulownaplein and Paloma means dove in Spanish, the sign of peace in the city of ‘Peace and Justice’. Anna Paulowna Square already has several restaurant establishments and, since the 6th of September, Café Paloma is one of them, an idea by Domenique van Nielen and Magnus Magnusson. They opened MEDI Restaurant in the centre of The Hague back in 2021. At this location, they only have a small terrace hence adding a restaurant with a larger terrace. Their website is linked in the title.

You can enjoy South American cuisine with a modern twist, think tasty Ceviche, Fresh Tuna Tartare, Jalapeno Bitterballen, Yucca Frita, tacos but also Aquachile (the water of Chile). They have 2 private rooms for meetings and private dining and an upstairs space for larger groups. The Paloma cocktails come in 5 flavours! And of course, there are more classic and innovative cocktails on their menu. And ‘Every Thursday it’s Paloma Thursday at Café Paloma’!

Bistrot le Béret | The French bistrot on the Oosterhaven in Medemblik

Chef Marc Kok loves French cuisine and previously ran Bistrot Marc, also in Medemblik. Now, after an extensive renovation, Bistrot Le Béret has opened. He runs this restaurant together with Kees, the host, and Sanne who does social media. The faces of the bistrot and the three musketeers according to Marc. They are open from Thursday to Sunday evenings. The link to their website is in the title.

On the Burgundian menu of Bistrot Le Béret you will find French classics such as Pâté, Entrecôte (now on the menu with Béarnaise sauce), Poulet Suprême, Crème Brûlée, the delicious-sounding Dragon dessert including ice cream and grapes and, of course, a wide selection of wines from France with exciting forays beyond!

It has become a cosy homely bistrot as you can see in the mood impression in the reel below. A sublime restaurant where you can enjoy French delicacy! They also organise special evenings including a game night on November 29th and really French: Réveillon de la Saint-Sylvestre on December 31st.

Café Toulouse | Enjoying French cuisine with a Sicilian touch

As of the beginning of October, Leiden residents are able to enjoy French cuisine at Café Toulouse on Nieuwe Rijn 1 in Leiden. They serve lunch, dinner and drinks. From a quick bite to an extensive dinner accompanied by cocktails and wines. A beautiful location in the heart of the city with a terrace from which you can spot the boats in the canal during summer!

Passionate Sicilian chef Lorenzo has a penchant for French cuisine and each dish bears his unique signature. For example, the lunch menu includes Bouillabaisse, Croque Monsieur et Madame, a Salade Niçoise and also various croquettes including shrimp croquettes. For dinner, he serves dishes such as a duck tartare, a Poulet Toulouse with bisque, Swiss chard and lime, a Sole Meuniière with lemon and gremolata and for dessert they also have Crêpe Suzette!

Owner and hostess Floor ensures her guests can relax and enjoy a drink and a bite in an exuberant setting where each room evokes a different atmosphere!
