Ten years after launching their Fine Brandy, quirky Dutch spirits brand Rooster & Wolf is now launching a unique Fine Rum. Founder Rick van der Wolf spent no less than three years distilling and blending it. The result is a powerful yet refined rum, in which you will taste fruit, vanilla, chocolate, toffee and subtle wood tones.

You can enjoy Rooster & Wolf Fine Rum neat

For three years, Rick Van der Wolf has been a man on a mission to make the best rum. He says, “I think rum is a beautiful spirit. In good rum you will taste the richness of the Caribbean, the aromas, flavours and spices that make those islands so lively and festive.” In the Netherlands, rum is often drunk in a mix, or incorporated into a cocktail. His goal was to create a rum that can be enjoyed neat, so you will experience the spicy taste sensation to the fullest.

Complex blend with character

This ambition led him to a distillery in Venezuela, where he experimented with different combinations of rums together with the old master distiller. During his search for the perfect flavour, Van der Wolf decided to combine a full-bodied and powerful South American rum with a spicy rum from the Dominican Republic. Further aging the blend in oak whiskey barrels gave the rum its distinctive character. The result is a rich, complex rum in which the slightly smoke flavour of the whiskey barrels makes the rum unique in its segment.

Tribute to father and grandfather

Rooster & Wolf Fine Rum has an alcohol content of 40% and is released in a 700 ml bottle, which was also designed by Rick Van der Wolf. His brand is a tribute to his father Jacques van der Wolf and maternal grandfather, Bram den Haan. They both enjoyed drinking a good glass of brandy and rum and taught Rick to enjoy these classic spirits. Rooster & Wolf Fine Rum is delicious by itself with a cube of ice, in a nice cocktail or in a mix. Rick van der Wolf: “I prefer to drink it neat. At room temperature, in a nice tumbler. Then I taste a spicy, complex rum that is easy to drink and in which you can taste four hundred years of Caribbean wealth, stories and history.”

As of this week, Rooster & Wolf Fine Rum is available at liquor stores, in the hospitality industry and through their web shop.
