Cool tradition | Gastropub Dutch Dukes kicks off with first Christmas get-together of 2024

Faux Christmas jumpers, Christmas turkey and singing along with Mariah Carey, tomorrow, October 15th, at Gastropub Dutch Dukes on Rotterdam’s Witte de Withstraat! The party starts at 5pm, reservations aren’t needed, free walk-ins for everyone. We have written about them last year as well, a great way to get local attention.

‘The annual Christmas get-together at Dutch Dukes is always a big party! So we got the baubles out of the attic extra early this year and transformed the pub into a true Christmas Valhalla. Why wait when we can already enjoy the cosiest season of the year? Keep those wrong Christmas jumpers coming!’, says owner Frank Roolaart enthusiastically about the Christmas party.

Pizza Profs organises second Pizza Inspiration Event on October 28th 2024

Pizza Profs, the platform for all professional pizza bakers in the Netherlands, is organizing the second Pizza Inspiration Event on Monday October 28th 2024 at SVO in Houten. The program includes demos by Tawfik el Shanwany (Dutch Pizza Baking Champion 2024) and speakers such as Wout Hooghiemstra (of ‘De Pizzabakkers’).

After the successful first edition of the Pizza Inspiration Event in 2022, a sequel was bound to happen. From 10 a.m. to 2.30 p.m., pizza professionals are welcome at Pizza Prof partner; SVO professional food training in Houten. ‘We want to help entrepreneurs run a healthy pizza business and inspire them with tastings and demonstrations,’ says Pizza Prof founder Marcel Losekoot, owner of the Pizza Academy. Manila-based coffee roaster Commune partners with Google Gemini on a limited-edition, AI-generated latte

Interesting read on Trendwatching.com, link in the title. Manila-based cafe and coffee roaster Commune teamed up with Google Philippines on a limited edition Bibingka Latte. Drawing inspiration from a traditional Filipino Christmas delicacy, the espresso and steamed milk drink is topped with shredded queso de bola and salted egg, and decorated with a torched banana leaf.

Bibingka Latte was created using Gemini, Google’s generative AI model. Gemini drafted various drink concepts, which Commune’s baristas then refined. Google also trained Commune staff on AI applications to help them craft innovative new beverages. More details in the link in the title.

Inspiration: Are there more coffee shops that create drinks based on AI?

Spotted on Théo Guyon’s Instagram account (link in the title) where he shows followers aroung Paris and ‘The French way of life’. This pain au chocolat is sold at ‘Le Comptoir’ of the Ritz hotel. The bun is based on a hot dog but made from puff pastry and chocolate. In another reel, he also shows the shop Odette where they sell the ‘le meilleur choux à la crème’.
