Launching 100% Achterhoeks bock beer De Lindebock at Bockbierdag Aalten
On Sunday October 6th 2024, a new bock beer will be launched during the Bockbierdag Aalten: De Lindebock. This special beer is the result of a unique collaboration between seven Aalten catering establishments and Brouwerij Wentersch, created with the help of Maurits Steverink of platform Achterhoek Food. This initiative brings the flavour of the region to life. It illustrates the craftsmanship present, the contribution to a more beautiful landscape and nature with local connection.
The Lindebock: tasty craft from the Achterhoek region
In honour of the 10th anniversary of the Bockbierdag Aalten, seven local catering establishments – Grand Café Het Noorden, Café Restaurant Stegers, KRUL Restaurant & Bar, Eetcafé ‘t Raadhuys, Olde Marckt, Café Leuven and Oerkroeg Schiller – have collaborated to brew De Lindebock. This robust bock beer, with malty aromas and a delicate caramel touch, is made entirely from pure Achterhoek ingredients from barley grown in Achterhoek soil, processed into malt by Vloermouterij Masterveld from Winterswijk to hops from Zieuwent and water from Winterswijk. The Lindebock, with its dark colour and gentle sweetness, is an ideal choice for autumn and pairs perfectly with a stew, red meat or a sweet dessert.
Achterhoek Food: sustainable, healthy and preferably from its own soil
Achterhoek Food supports the movement towards more sustainable and healthier food from the region. The platform draws attention to the hard-working professionals behind the food and encourages cooperation between farmers and consumers. Achterhoek Food sees opportunities to profile the region as a distinctive food region where sustainability and health are central, under the slogan: ‘Sustainable, healthy and preferably from its own soil’. Maurits Steverink this is a ‘Unique approach with decisive catering entrepreneurs and their cooperation with the professionals in the entire chain from soil to glass. It illustrates the strength of the Achterhoek by ‘just doing it’ and then fantastic products are created that are increasingly attracting national attention. Interest in regional beers that actually contain ingredients from the region is only increasing. Joining forces makes it commercially attractive and a good story’.
Wentersch Brewery: local pride with a passion for beer
Brewery Wentersch, known for beers such as Achterhoek IPA, Pomp 4 and Wentersweiss, has been anchored in Winterswijk since 2016. The successful brewery, with their unique craftsmanship uses as many local ingredients as possible and expresses the love for the Achterhoek in their beers. From catering establishments to supermarkets and via their own shop and webshop, Wentersch’s beers are increasingly widely appreciated.
At the brewery on Groenloseweg you will find a tasting room and gift shop with local products, such as the freshly baked bread with brewer’s grains, a residual product of malting, and a beer sausage. Through tours and tastings, they introduce visitors to Wentersch’s passion and craftsmanship.
