GINAMIS | A new 0% spirit from Amsterdam
GINAMIS wants to further challenge the norm in drinking in the category ‘non-alcoholic with good taste’. With this new alcohol-free spirit from Dutch soil, a cocktail can be enjoyed every moment of the day, even at breakfast. GINAMIS was officially launched on the Dutch market this week. It is a non-alcoholic spirit inspired by gin and developed, distilled and bottled in Amsterdam. The brand was conceived by brand new entrepreneurs and friends (amis) Jaap van de Weg and Cheng Yeung, who believe that taste and experience are the keys to success in the non-alcoholic segment. Both have extensive experience in the beverage industry.
The taste profile of GINAMIS is strongly determined by a unique and unusual ingredient; dandelion leaf! The dandelion (in French “dents de lion”), was the inspiration for the birth of Dan the Lion, the mischievous mixologist character of the brand. At The Dutch Non-Alcoholic Spirit Awards in October 2021, GINAMIS received a medal in the “White Spirits” category as the best Dutch non-alcoholic spirit based on taste, design and concept. Great for a non-alcoholic alternative for the upcoming Holiday Season, you can make cocktails with it for breakfast, lunch or just for fun…. With 2 mocktail recipes!

A G&T with GINAMIS | Alcohol-free and tasty
Jaap van de Weg: “Our mission is simple: we want to change the norm in ‘drinking’. We still see that people expect you to drink alcohol when you are together. A non-alcoholic drink is often labelled as boring anyway. Meanwhile, beer is widely providing full-fledged and flavourful non-alcoholic choices to enjoy at home or in the hospitality industry. That (r)evolution was fertile ground for us to develop a new option in the cocktail scene. Alcohol and sociability are no longer synonymous; what matters is that you can choose taste”.
Search for the characterful taste, without alcohol
For a long time the friends have been looking for a way to transform their ideas into a really good and tasty 0% spirit. So good, in fact, that you order a second one. They asked renowned master blenders for help, but even they could not find the answer. In the end they succeeded in developing a characteristic taste in collaboration with The Stillery in Amsterdam. GINAMIS was created by distilling and mixing ten vegetable ingredients (including juniper, poppy, rosemary and cinnamon) with Dutch sand-filtered dune water. A traditional process that, contrary to popular belief, is entirely identical to the distillation of gin.
The taste is not easy to describe; it begins with a surprising aromatic nose in which spicy and floral seem to dance with each other. On the palate, a balanced, bitter-spicy profile follows with fresh citrus notes and a powerful finish.
Dandelion, uniquely delicious
The flavour profile of GINAMIS is strongly determined by a unique and unusual ingredient; dandelion leaf. Many see this (un)herb as a stubborn nuisance. But the slightly bitter condiment has a special story. In addition to its well-known use in salads and teas, it is beneficial for digestion. Yeung says, “According to traditional Chinese medicine, this herb improves the functioning of the liver.”
“It’s not about alcoholic or non-alcoholic. It’s about the taste AND the experience. A full-bodied, complex flavour prepared and presented as an attractive cocktail. And you can drink your new favorite G&T anywhere and anytime; during breakfast, that exciting meeting or just on Tuesday night with your partner when the kids are in bed”, says Van de Weg.
Modern design with a story
The name GINAMIS stands for “inspired by gin, made by friends”. The colours were deliberately chosen to give the “modern classic” bottle the same character as its contents. The royal blue stands for quality and style; the orange for great enjoyment, and the Dutch roots. The dandelion not only plays a leading role in the drink itself, but also in the design; in the logo, in the play of the fluff that ‘blows’ freely through the air and in the ‘person’ of Dan the Lion (as a character-defining ingredient). The stylish bottle would not be out of place in a second life as a carafe or candlestick.
GINAMIS is available in a number of liquor stores and on-trade outlets in the Randstad and through their website.
