Eco-friendly chocolate bar by Kit Kat

Kit Kat Japan’s new Cacao Fruit Chocolate Bar, flavoured and sweetened with cacao fruit ‘by-products’, is the popular brand’s first eco-friendly chocolate bar. The Japanese people love Kit Kat and Kit Kat keeps introducing exotic and regional flavours, Kit Kat Cacao Fruit is the latest! And this one might change the way all chocolate bars are formulated. Chocolate has become a rare and threatened commodity: unprecedented demand, civil unrest in producing nations, and the impact of global warming have conspired to drive prices skyward. Confectioners have been forced to re-examine how they manufacture chocolate bars, including what cacao components are used… and what are not. The latter category includes the white, pulpy, bittersweet fruit of the cacao pod, about 70 percent of which is discarded during the production process. Food scientists at Nestlé Japan’s Kit Kat Chocolatory made it their mission to investigate ways that cacao fruit can be used, not wasted, and the end result is the brand’s very first sustainable snack bar: Kit Kat Cacao Fruit.

CHEW | Another personal and reusable straw

Another straw to add to our list of more eco-friendly straws. The CHEW reuseable straw comes in a recycled plastic case designed to spin-dry the slim sipper, keeping it clean, dry, and primed for your next beverage. A personal straw! ‘

a Kickstarter campaign was launched to produce the straw and it seems that people love the product: almost 600 backers have pledged approximately 150-percent of their original goal!

Truth & Tonic | The first plant-based café on the Strip in Las Vegas

On January 17th, Canyon Ranch opened their first fully plant-based café Truth & Tonic, on the Strip in Las Vegas. Canyon Ranch is an award winning leader in health and luxury spa getaways. Their first Las Vegas location opened in 1999 at The Venetian® Resort. Since its launch, they’ve opened several culinary concepts within the city that further promote their 360° health based ethos. Noticing the uptick in veganism, one that’s reportedly grown 600% in the past three years, Truth & Tonic falls perfectly in line with Canyon Ranch’s wellness gospel.

At this ATM you did get a glass of prosecco!

To celebrate the opening of their new location of the Wine Bar + Merchant + Kitchen + Urban Winery Vagabond, they are giving away complimentary glasses of prosecco outside their brand new venue. This is Vagabond’s eighth since its launch ten years ago and it’s located in a former Santander Bank. They’ve given one of the bank’s old ATMs a sparkly makeover.

The Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid to reopen doors in the summer of 2020

The 110-year-old Ritz, Madrid has been renovated and will reopen this summer as Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid. The hotel is situated in the Golden Triangle of Art, neighbouring the Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Reina Sofía Museum of Modern Art. The property was built more than a century ago and has hosted royalty, politicians, celebrities and other high profile personnel. The restoration was done by Spanish architect Raphael de La-Hoz and French designers Gilles and Bossier have done the interiors. The originality of the hotel is preserved, keeping its initial belle époque style in place – a French (specifically Paris) style of architecture that became popular between 1871 and the first world war in 1914 – a concoction of different styles including neo-Byzantine, neo-Gothic, classicism, art nouveau and art deco. The updated version will have 153 rooms that include 53 suites – A Royal Suite and Presidential Suite as part of the package. The designs are all inspired by Spanish culture and art.
