A little late but I loved the idea of this Puppies + Prosecco package at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco in Denver. In honour of National Dog Day, the property did include a private puppy party when you booked a night in a Luxury Suite on August 23 through August 26. Guests enjoyed an hour of playtime with maximum 10 puppies. A puppy expert was also on hand to answer any questions.

Start-up Air Protein creates ‘air meat’ using protein-producing microbes discovered by NASA

A Bay Area startup is producing an alternative meat by relying on on a class of microbes that convert carbon dioxide into protein the same way plants do. The microbes produce a powder than could replace soy or pea protein in plant-based meat products. The conversion process was discovered by NASA when it tried to grow food for astronauts in the 1960s. More about this interesting product at Business Insider.

The Michelin guide for Tokyo

Tokyo’s 13th Michelin Guide has been released last week. Tokyo has more stars than any other city, it includes 226 restaurants with Michelin stars, including one new three-star restaurant, three new two-star restaurants, and 20 new restaurants with one star. Exceptional is that Sukiyabashi Jiro Honten (the Jiro of the famous documentary) and Sushi Saito were dropped from the list because they stopped accepting reservations from the public. According to Michelin does this makes them too exclusive. More at the website of Eater.

KFC also tested plant-based chicken in Canada for one-day

KFC, a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Inc., is launching a second one-day test of plant-based chicken. New meatless popcorn chicken and fried chicken sandwiches will be available at a Mississauga, Ont., location on Nov. 27. KFC tested Beyond Meat nuggets and boneless wings at an Atlanta store in August, becoming the first major U.S. fast-food chain to introduce a Beyond Chicken item. The product sold out in five hours. KFC Canada wants to roll out plant-based chicken in 2020.
