Celebrating the start of the summer holiday season | ‘A draft for a necktie’
All men working in Rotterdam will have the possibility to celebrate the start of the summer holiday season and drink a draft for free. You only need to deliver your necktie Friday 7 July at Van Zanten café, ‘een tappie voor een dassie’ (Dutch slang meaning ‘a draft for a necktie’). For those who have to work before the summer holiday starts, come and exchange a tie for a glass of ice cold beer to celebrate the fact that we have fewer traffic jams the coming weeks!
‘A draft for a necktie’
It reminded us of the ‘bad Christmas Sweaters’ parties to celebrate the Christmas Season. However, Café van Zanten on the Meent in Rotterdam celebrates the start of the summer season with a necktie free get together on their sunny terrace (They expect 27 degrees Celsius this Friday).
The rules are simple, on the 7th of July, Café van Zanten’s guests get a fresh draft beer in exchange for a frivolous tie. A good chance that the old owner of the tie will see his tie again in this bar in Rotterdam because they actually are going to be worn by the waiters. “We want to reward the man of Rotterdam for the hard work and treat them to an ice cold beer. The ties that are being donated for a beer will be worn by the waiters of the bar.”, says Herman Hell – owner of Café van Zanten.
Café Van Zanten
Since the opening of Café Van Zanten at the Meent of Rotterdam, they have gained popularity on a gourmet level. The excellent service and the atmospheric decor helps to escape everyday hassle at any moment of the day. In summer, the terrace is one of the best spot to crash. Sunbathers enjoy the most hours of sunshine in Rotterdam.
